Kayak Camping on the Shoalhaven River NSW

Kayak Camping on the Shoalhaven River

Mark was kind enough to share the details of his awesome trip kayak camping on the Shoalhaven river:

We drove to BENDEELA RECREATION AREA (free campsite) on Thursday night after work arriving at 9 pm. Pitched the tent and went to sleep.

Day 1: strava.com/activities/1523477165

The following morning we paddled down stream along the Kangaroo river to Tallow dam. Then we kayaked up the Shoalhaven river towards Fossickers Flat and camped before Fossickers Flat. There are numerous free camp spots there.

Day 2: strava.com/activities/1523477692

Day two we paddled back along the Shoalhaven River towards Tallow dam and into the spectacular Bundanoon Creek. We then kayaked back on the Kangaroo river to find a campsite.

Day 3: strava.com/activities/1523478178

Day 3 was a short paddle back to the Bendeela recreational area. We had lunch in Kangaroo valley and drove home.

The whole river/ lake is motor free so the kayaks and canoes are the only traffic you will see.

There are numerous free camp sites dotted along the shores (+20)  some with drop toilets.

A shorter trip can be had by starting at Tallow dam and up the Shoalhaven River to Fossickers Flat giving you two short spectacular days.

Kayak Camping on the Shoalhaven River

The AdvancedFrame Convertible inflatable kayaks were ideal for Mark and his family to go kayak camping on the Shoalhaven River because they are:

  • easy to paddle solo – they go straight and fast
  • durable and reliable (especially important when you are in the middle of nowhere)
  • spacious with a HUGE weight capacity – great for packing food and camping gear
  • very comfortable – both for the paddlers and for the kids sleeping

BUT, it might not be the right kayak for you.

It’s a lot of money down the drain if you get the wrong model, so it’s worth asking for my advice!

About Oz Inflatable Kayaks

Inflatable Kayak Seaworld Lagoon Emily

Hi, my name is Emily and over a decade ago I thought to myself “gee, I would really love to go kayaking … if only I had a big strong butler to help me get a kayak on and off roof racks. Oh, and several thousand dollars for the kayak and the roof racks (not to mention the cost of the butler)”.

To find a way to go paddling without a heavy hard-shell kayak, I started looking into inflatable kayaks. But I did NOT want a pool toy.

The Advanced Elements range of inflatable kayaks really blew me away (excuse the terrible pun).

I realised that the quality was not just about durability, it also meant that the kayaks were comfortable and easy to paddle straight and fast.

It just so happens that I was also looking for a business opportunity at the same time…

Nowadays I specialise (and delight) in selling Advanced Elements inflatables to all kinds of people in Australia.

I know the range so well that I do personalised recommendation videos to help people choose the right kayak.

It’s a no-obligation service that I enjoy doing AND it helps me in the long run because my customers that get a recommendation get the right kayak, first time. They are HAPPY customers!
